Hi! I am Cari and I am a psychotherapist and clinical social worker. As far as I can remember, I always felt the need to help others. In working with so many types of people and in every single one, you see how their past affects their current state. I have training in family trauma therapeutic play . I am currently working on a certificate in forensic therapy as I have worked extensively with the court system from family law , criminal law and civil lawsuits. My true passion is working with trauma because I understand its power as a person and as a therapist. I chose social work because it is a field that encompasses all the parts of an individual; people don't have many different sides and are instead circles with endless complexities. Many therapists offer a lot vast generalizations , mantras and brimming positivity. And I think for some people that is effective and wonderful. The way in which I practice is with pure and real authenticity. In building true trust ones therapist must have the ability to empathize, be curious and not present themselves as an authoritative figure . As a therapist we are the safe place and the vessels for many a clients repressed emotions. And with that we can begin to uncover what makes you tick .Most importantly laughter is key. I use humor as a tool help my clients see their life from a different perspective. I take my job and clients very seriously, I do so in a way in which I don’t take myself too seriously . I am authenticity me with all my clients , because the most important part of therapy is to being authenticly you .
The foundation of my practice is working in and supervising a Community-Based Prevention Program serving families, youth and adolescents that are exhibiting high-risk behaviors. I have experience working with the challenges of trauma, truancy, adolescent substance use, familial hardships, gang involvement and exploitation.
My practice style is rooted in a strengths-based approach and it is my goal to help extend lines of support holistically and in partnership with the clients I serve. I am dedicated to helping make your wellness essential. I believe it is never too late to develop a wellness practice and that self-care equips us for success.
I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is paramount to the work achieved in session and strive to create a comfortable and non-judgmental environment. I also promote a space where there is open feedback and opportunity to work through issues in ways that are personalized to each individual. I believe therapy is an important space to grapple both with large issues and also day to day life and empower us to live more in touch with ourselves.
I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. I am currently a candidate at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy training in Psychodynamic relational therapy where I am working towards my psychoanalyst licensure over the next four years. I grew up in New York City and currently live in the city with my partner and two year old dog, Helios.

I focus on the queer, trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming populations in my work but welcome individuals of all sexualities and gender expressions. I use trauma informed modalities as a lens to focus on what’s going on in your life in the moment as well as how your past has shaped you.
I offer an affirming, supportive therapeutic home to my clients. I believe in every individuals unique power to heal and am passionate about partnering with you to co-create a safe creative therapeutic environment. You are the expert in your own lived experience; you already possess the strengths that will help you
I believe in our innate ability to heal; that no matter what population I serve or what therapeutic modality I use, every client needs to be truly seen, heard, and held by the therapeutic space.
